10 Aug Confidence in Midlife Isn’t Something You Find—It’s Something You Build
Last week, we talked about something so many women quietly feel: “I just don’t feel like myself anymore.” Can you relate? I know I do sometimes! And the truth is—that feeling is often rooted in real, biological changes happening in your body. But here’s what I want to talk about this week… What happens after that? What happens when you start to realize… Maybe it’s not me… maybe something deeper is going on.
The Confidence Piece No One Talks About
I had another conversation recently with a woman who said: “I used to feel so confident. I knew what to wear, I had energy, I felt like me… and now I second guess everything.” And I hear this all the time. Not just about health—but about how women show up in their lives.
- What they wear
- How they carry themselves
- How much energy they bring into a room
- Even how they speak or make decisions
And here’s what’s important to understand: Confidence doesn’t disappear randomly. It shifts when your body doesn’t feel supported.
When Your Body Feels Off, Everything Feels Off
If your energy is low… If your sleep is off… If your hormones are fluctuating… Of course you’re not going to feel like your best self. Of course you’re going to hesitate more. Of course things are going to feel harder. This isn’t about “losing confidence.” It’s about losing alignment.
Let’s Redefine Confidence
What if confidence isn’t something you either “have” or “don’t have”? What if it’s something you build—daily?

Confidence is a byproduct of how you take care of yourself. It’s built through:
- Nourishing your body
- Supporting your energy
- Making small promises to yourself—and keeping them
- Showing up, even when you don’t feel 100%
It’s not about perfection. It’s about consistency. Showing up for yourself daily – take one step at a time
What We Saw in Our Live Event
Karen and I talked about this in our Live Thrive in Midlife event this week. Because confidence isn’t just about health… and it’s not just about style… It’s about the connection between the two. When you start to feel better in your body, you naturally begin to show up differently. And when you choose to show up—even in small ways—you start to feel better. It works both ways.
A Simple Place to Start
If you’re waiting to feel confident before you take action… You might be waiting a long time. Because confidence doesn’t come first. 👉 Action does.
This Week’s Tool: The “Show Up Anyway” Shift
This week, I want you to choose one small action each day that supports how you want to feel. Just one. It could be:
- Putting on an outfit that makes you feel good
- Starting your day with breathwork and a body connection
- Going for a walk
- Taking 5 minutes to yourself before the day begins
- Trying the Pause method & 6 words from Erin Walsh Intentional Fashion
It doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be intentional. Because every time you follow through, you build trust with yourself. And that trust? That’s where confidence starts.
Looking Ahead
Next week, we’re going to talk about something that comes up for so many women in midlife… Weight. But not in the way you’ve heard it before. We’re going to break down why weight loss after menopause is not about willpower… and what’s actually going on in your body. For now, remember this: You don’t need to “find” your confidence again. You build it. One choice. One action. One day at a time.
